SCREEN ISSUES

Hi everyone, im new to the forum and im having a problem with my screen on my acer aspire netbook. It just started on its own, i never dropped it or knocked it around or anything, i just turned it on one day and it was doing this, now the problem is the screen seems to be white washed out, its very hard to make anything out on it, and theres black lines up and down the screen and its flickering, ill enclose a few picsIMG_0725.JPG of what its doing, have any of you encounterd anything like this before, or know how i can fix it????????? thanks in adnace

    so i take it no ones seen this issue before and this thing is toast?

    Model? Windows version?

     

    If you have an hdmi and/or vga port, out them to a TV or external monitor to check out the graphics adapter. May have to toggle Fn+F6 to turn the external display on.

    hey thanks for the reply, its a acer netbook 10.1 inch screen, model number AO532H. so i should try connecting it to my tv to see if it does the same thing on that screen???

     

    and its running windows 7 starter

    If the external monitor works just fine, then screen's fried. I don't think Acer's warranty will cover it. Try to get in touch with them. These things usually does not happen on its own, check with your friends, family or anyone around if they used your lappy. Try to recollect if you closed the lid and held the lappy between your fingers or armpit, some times a few pressure points might do this.

    I know it's been a little while since you've posted this but I came to the community with the same problem and saw your post. Mine is an Aspire V5 and the screen started flickering with a screen that looks like yours, almost immediately after opening the box. Although it was annoying, it was intermittent so I just ignored it because sending my laptop off for weeks just wasn't worth it. Big mistake! The flickers got worse and now it's stuck on this screen and I can only use it while it's connected to an external monitor (my tv). So you're not crazy, you didn't do anything, it's just the computer. Mine had never been bumped, dropped, knocked, etc either.

    Since it appears this is a screen issue in your case and not the graphics adapter, I recommend removing the battery and popping off the screen bezel (usually held by 2 screws  hidden behind small round pieces of tape at the bottom and plastic catches at the top). Then pull the MB ribbon screen connector on & off a few times to try to clean the contacts. You may have to remove a tape strip to free up this connector.  If this doesn't work, then do the same with the other end of the ribbon cable at the MB --- unfortunately you'll have to remove an obstinate keyboard to get at this connector. The keyboard is often held in place by a half dozen or so plastic catches on the top edge & sides of the KB. You'll probably break some in trying to pry them away from the case --- color-coordinated electrician tape is the fix if you get frustrated and happen to break all of the catches. 8^)
