My Acer 5742 has started crashing rather randomly

This is very recent - took it to a tech guy who thinks it might be a motherboard issue - it happens randomly, usually after continual use, often while watching videos.  Then it goes into a reboot loop. Any solutions?

There was a download suggestion on Youtube, but Acer will only let me on the Canadian site and it doesn't seem to have the same content as the Youtube video suggested (epower and eframework)

    Good day

    1. Do a bios update to the latest bios update for your machine.

    2. Run a HDD test using third party software such as seagate.

    3. Run a memory test using third party software such as MEMTEST86

    4. Make sure your Windows updates are fully updated.

    5. Backup and reload the machine to factory settings.

If you do all of the above and the fault still persists, then take the machine to Acer for hardware assessment.

    Regards,

I had a similar problem a couple of months back when my Acer Aspire 5742G died on me suddenly. After a 2 month vacation at Acer Authorized Service Center, it was diagnosed to be a known issue with the nVidia GeForce GT 420M GPU embedded in this system. Seems it gets heated up pretty fast and causes system to crash / reboot / shutdown without warning. Guess you'll have to live with this till you choose to have the notebook replaced with another model / make.
