I have a Aspire 5552 laptop running Windows 7, havent had any problems with it except having the moniter replaced about a year ago. This morning I was using it and had to go cook breakfast for my wife and I set the laptop down on the computer desk and some how the power cable came out, by the time I got back to it I noticed the monitor was black and the battery light was yellow, so I knew it had gone into sleep mode so I wiggled the mouse and it didnt wake up, I plugged the power cable back in and the power light came on blue, but it still wouldnt wake up. I decided to give it a few minutes to charge the battery back up and try again, when the battery light turned blue I hit the power button, the cpu fan came on and cycled up then down, the CD ROM cycled, The screen remained black and the Hard drive light and wireless light never lit up. Held the power button down for 30 seconds till it powered down then rebooted it, same results. Removed the battery, unplugged the power supply and held down the power button for 30 seconds to drain the remaining power on the mother board, reinstalled everything still nothing, called Acer, its out of warrenty so I'm going to leave it unplugged over night and see if that helps but its allways been my experance that its not going to work because it sounds like to me the motherboard has gone out for some reason. And its not worth repairing, a motherboard cost more then I paid for the laptop... if anyone has another answer please let me know, Im out of ideas. I have also tried to boot from a recovery disk but the moniter stays black and the hard drive light is still out. The hard drive light lights up and flashes as it reads the disk, rebooting with recovery disk doesnt change anything. It acts like the BIOs has gone bad. looks like if it was a motherboard the fan wouldnt run... its not the moniter ether tryed a external one, the hard drive and wireless light arent lighting up which tells me its BIOs related....

Sorry you are having trouble with your product. It does sound like the product has a hardware problem that would require repair. Unfortunately, I do not have any suggestions you can try to resolve the problem you are describing other than repair. You can set the product up for repair online at http://customercare.acer.com/customercare/Default.aspx.

I got it fixed,...... I bought a NEW HP laptop with windows 8.1..... I figured the CPU had gone out in the Acer, It had been getting so hot that it actually burnt my skin when I set the laptop in my lap to use it, The fan sounded like a jet plane taking off most of the time.
