If you can find a card that is the same size, it may work. Keep in mind if you start opening your notebook, you may void the warranty, especially if you are installing hardware.

You could probably find a USB wifi dongle that would do it, if you can't find an internal card.

    Hi Clyde,

Thanks for your input. I am using a usb dongle at the moment but really would like to upgrade the internal "G" band atheros to a Dual Band "N" using both channels upto 300mbs or Higher. Also thinking of maybe a "AC" router and wireless card. Any further ideas appreciated.

    Hello To All,

After searching for a replacement wireless adapter for my aspire 5720 Plus trying to get information as if I could upgrade the card from a "G" band to a "N" dual band or an "AC" adapter card. Acer could not help, I eventually took the plunge and bought an Atheros KILLER 1202 adapter. Fit it crossed fingers and powered on. YEH I have a working dual band "N" that works great with my TP-LINK TD-W8980 Dual band "N". Hope my experiecne is of help to anyone who wishes to upgrade their wireless adapter card.

    Regards
