Does anyone know how I can disable/remove the Wifi and Bluetooth Unit, by hardware only, from the Acer Iconia B1-710 7" Tablet? For example, can I shortcircuit one of the Wifi and Bluetooth Unit components?

Since they don't publish schematics it's going to require you to take the tablet apart and identify the module yourself. It should be easy to find since (I believe) both the WiFi and Bluetooth are handled by the same chips and they have antennas connected. Why on earth would you want to though? Without WiFi and Bluetooth you pretty much have no way of connecting to a network so most apps wouldn't work...

Would you know if it is simply a case of unsoldiering this chip, or do you think this information maybe in a Service Manual?

It is to use at work in a hospital and I can upload any apps from my main computer.

I think if it were me I'd approach it with the thought of installing an app that locks the tablet in airplane mode, rather than trying to mod the hardware... I'd bet your warranty support would be better! Smiley Happy

I don't want to take any chances, particularly near sensitive medical equipment.
