Battery Bay Cover (Aspire 5750)

My ASPIRE 5750 battery's charging capacity has started to deteriorate. (It's two years old).  I fully understand how usage patterns define battery life and am quite happy to replace it.

However, whilst searching for a supplier for the replacement and refering to the 'user manual' for guidance, I discovered that one of the recommendations to preserve battery life is as quoted below:

"... battery is adversely affected by using the computer on constant AC power with the battery inserted.  If you want to use constant AC power, you are advised to remove the battery pack after it is fully charged."

Good advice but, doing this will leave the battery bay open and therefore the power connections unprotected - with the potential (albeit minimal) for accidental contact with those connections.

I have searched for a simple battery bay cover, for when the battery is removed, but with no luck.

Is such a solution available?

Thanks.

I suggest exercising the battery more by removing the charging cable.

Thanks for replying JackE.  What you syggest, is what I've been doing for the past two years.

I think though, that you've missed the 'point' of my actual question - regarding a battery-bay 'Cover'.

Since the vast majoruity of usage is in our home, then based on the advice in the User Guide (as quoted in my post), it would seem beneficial to remove the battery for AC usage and to insert it only when using the laptop when travelling etc.

I don't think any such covers exist but you can cover the contact points in the battery compartment with an electrical tape.

Yep, electrical tape sounds good to me too!
