Disk Drive on Aspire 7560 having issues!

I have a fairly new Aspire 7560 series (only about two years old) and there is something wrong with the CD drive. It's been working fine playing CDs and video games until today.

I was going to use a CD-RW to burn some music and make a CD (which I've done before with no problems) and it was in the drive for about 1 hour and when I went to burn the CD, Windows Media said there was no disc. When I went to eject it, there was no light indicating there was a disk in there and the drive wouldn't even open.

I was able to go online and find out how to manually open the drive, but now it still won't open itself and it won't run any disk I put in. If someone could help, it would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks!

    Hi JayKay

The light usually only lights up when it is reading or writing to the disk. When you insert a blank disk, does it spin? If it does, then try a different brand of disk, and even try a shop bought music CD, to see if it plays.

If there is nothing, then the drive or its laser may have died. Take it to your local PC store who should be able to replace it for you, although you can purchase & fit it yourself, if you're confident!

Thank you so much for your reply! I'm trying some different routes before I have to admit defeat and go get something replaced. Again, thanks so much for your help =)
