I've just bought Acer Aspire E1-422 Quad Core with AMD A6-5200 APU two months ago. I like it because it's stylish. But I felt it laggy for some software, particulary for games. I'm a huge fan of Football Manager and right now I'm playing FM 2014. Well    due to the laggy times in playing thee game. I'd like to upgrade it's memory. The question is: Can't I use a single 8 GB RAM on this machine? And what kind of memory should I prepare?Smiley Happy

    Hi irvandav

Your Aspire E1-422 can use a maximun of 8GB of RAM, but each slot (you have 2) can only use 4GB.

So you cannot use an 8GB stick, you will need to use 2 x 4GB for it to work.

The memory type for your laptop isDDR. You can use: PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-14900, DDR3 (non-ECC) - so basically any RAM of these types will work perfectly.

    Hope this helps!

I asked Acer Service Centre to upgrade the memory to 8 gb by ordering the 2 x 4gb ram. Yet, unfortunately the acer technician told me that acer aspire e1 - 422 QC has only one module of ram. He also showed me the motherboard. This made me confused, since the advertisement showed that I can upgrade the memory to 8gb just like you said before.

That's really strange. Was it definately YOUR motherboard shown?

Well, perhaps the one slot can take the 8GB stick. The only way is to try!
