I would like to factory reset it, but I cannot get it to display anything but the android logo. What is the cause of this? And how can I fix this myself?

    Hi....

You may perform a hardware reset

Use a small thin object, such as a paperclip, to press the recessed reset button. This button is located on the bottom side of the tablet, next to the USB connector,

If issue persists perform a Factory Data Reset
The following steps will erase all of your personal information, all stored contacts and any programs you have installed on your tablet.
    1. Power off the tablet.
    2. Press and hold the Volume up button, which is located closest to the touch screen lock switch.
    3. With the Volume up button held, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds then release it. Continue holding the Volume up button.
    4. Once the tablet vibrates, switch the touch screen lock switch on and off repeatedly while still holding the Volume up button.
    5. Release the Volume up button and stop switching the touch screen lock switch once the "Erasing Userdata..." message appears in the upper left corner of the screen.
    6. Once the factory reset has been completed your tablet will load to the Welcome screen.
    7. Your Factory Data Reset has completed now follow the onscreen steps to setup your tablet.

I'm surprise that I have come arcoss so many people that have the same issue with Acer A500 tablet.  Yet Acer is very quite about the issue and has not stood behind their product.  I good to buy a new tablet, but I will never look at another Acer product again and will let anyone looking at their products that they dont stand behind what they sell.

The impression I get is that there are several potential root causes for this. Hence no single fix. Some causes give you corrupted system file, some corrupted partitions, some are more hardware related. First step is to reset the OS in case thr corruption is from an app. Second is to reload the OS from scratch. If it's hardware there is very little that can be done on your own. Man Sad

Thank you billsey. How much would it cost to send in my tablet to get it fixed? If there isn't an exact price, can you give me an approximation please? And thank you for being kind enough to help me everyone.
Also, to joeyriv2, an A500 is an amazing device. There are few tablets I would prefer, and those would be the Surfact RTs. So to you, I say that getting an A500 would be well worth your money (although you would be better off getting an A501 just incase you decide to get AT&T at a later point in time).

I don't know the exact price, but I do believe they offer a flat rate for servicing it. Check the support section by following the appropriate link from Acer-Cory's post in this thread.

When I perfom the Factory Data Reset from turn on, I began to receive a message saying
"Bootloader v0.03.12-ICS: Starting Fastboot USB download protocol".
    What does this mean?

When I tried the data reset above again, I got an odd image of the android symbol with its stomach open and a blue shape that was spinning. After that a loading bar came up and when it "loaded", a fallen over android with a red triangular sign with an exclamation point in it.

Never mind about that, I didn't realize that I was pressing the wrong side of the VOL switch. But is there any other proven to work way I could fix this myself?
