cannot access windows store

factory installed windows 8


I am having problems getting into the windows store on my wife's acer laptop. (Would like to be able to update to 8.1 and any other releases down the line)

When I click on the store tile it goes to full screen for a second but then gives me no option to sign in and no error code, it just reverts back to the desktop tile. When I right click on the tile a small tick appears in the bottom right of the store tile but when I go to settings in charms no settings appears for the store.


I have

1. installed all the win8 updates and have run the check that they have installed correctly using the check prog and they are good.

    emptied the store cache

    tried turning off my bitdefender av

    checked that I can access my ms account (but not the store)

    not tried to get into the store at any time since buying the laptop new in December 2012.

 

I did have to do a factory reset a few months ago for wireless internet problem that seems to be fixed now.


Frankly i'm at a loss as to what to do next. Would really appreciate some guidance
