    I had the same issue..

Microsoft phone support said the pre installed KMS key was blocked for activation and that ACER would have to issue me a new one. Placed an ACER ticket and ACER Alstraila responded and told me to place another ticket, as apposed to them transfering my ticket. Sorry, but ACER support failed in my book.

Basically ACER and Microsoft is failing to understand how either or what is breaking int he process of updating ti Windows 8.1. Or just doing a poor job at informing customers.

I had factory reset my laptop several times and it woulf fail to activate. Since the Windows 8 key in embedded intot he BIOS, I figured the BIOS version might have a newer KMS from ACER.

What I think fixed mine was.

    1. Updating BIOS 2.06. (my laptop required BIOS version 2.06 before any higher could be applied. some security implimentation, Also the 2.06 BIOS was and is not available on the Acer support download site.)

    2. Update BIOS to 2.07, then 2.09, and finally 2.10.

    3. Factory reset so the intall would grab the embedded Windows 8 key.

    4. And low and behold, it works now.

Even remained Activated after the 8.1 updated from the Store.

I have the same problem with my Acer V3 bought two weeks ago.

Have you solved your problem after months since you posted in August 2013? and can you please let me know how to fix the problem?

    Thank you!
