Product on back order?

So I ordered a laptop from you guys, it says in stock, I pay for it, you charge my card, and then two days later inform me it is on back order and you will let me know when you are going to ship it?  What?  You do not just charge someoen 600 dollars and say "hey, sorry, its not in stock.. we will let ya know when we will ship it.." Is it going to be a week wait, or what?  No way am I waiting months for the laptop.. that is 600 dollars, thats quite a bit of money to me.

    And the email says you guys are not going to charge me until it ships, yet you already have.. someone reply please, i want this figured out, as contacting your customer support is HORRENDOUS.

    Well, I know you are a moderator, but do you know how long this could take?  My main issue is I was charged the 600 dollars when the email said I would not be.. and I have no problem waiting a week or two if that is what has to happen, but if its months or something, no way do I want to wait that long...

    Hey, I know Acer support isnt really that great, and they dont like people contacting them (as is apparent by their hiding of phone numbers and making almost everything cost money), but check this link, look at the third phone number: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080216173418AAZkvvC

    Hey man, thanks! Sucks i have to wait till monday, but at least that number will work hopefully.  I just hate how this is happening, if something is out of stock, list it on your site, do not say something is in stock, have me buy it, have me then wait 48 hours for an email to tell me you will let me know when its going to ship.. with no estimated time, nothing.  That is pretty unnacceptable.  I am/was really looking forward to this laptop, so hopefully its a small back order that will not take to long, but if they cannot give me even an estimate on how long it will be, looks like i will have to take my business else where, unfortunatly.

    I am going to call monday.. I just fail to understand why they list a product as in stock and then tell me its on back order, and on top of that, do not even give me an ESTIMATE on when it would ship, all the while my card has been charged.  Just really odd to me.  I am not trying to be mad or anything, as I really want this laptop, so hopefully monday I can get this figured out.  I kind of made this thread in hopes someone else would say theirs was on back order but they got it within ____ amount of time.. because I have no problem waiting a week or two, but if its any longer, I really would rather just get my money back.

    I understand. Let's hope you find out that it's already been shipped and you can get a tracking number.

    Yeah I hope so, although I have a feeling this is not the case.  Have you ever/ or heard of them having a product on back order?  Does it normally take long?

    While I have no direct or indirect experience with Acer on-line sales,  it's likely your system shipped on the date the charge appeared despite the backorder notice. If not, then a credit should appear effectively reversing the charge. Have you checked you account again since getting the backorder notice?

    Yeah I have, still charged.  I really do hope it just got shipped, as I would much rather have the laptop then my money back.

    I'm in the same situation as you, I ordered my Asus Aspire V5-552G-x852 yesterday and they emailed me back saying the order was first confirmed and then put on back order, which is ridiculous. Anyways, any update on your order? Did you get your laptop or your money back yet? I would like to know to get a feeling for how long my order could take.
