Iconia A700 HDMI Connection Issues

Inherited an Iconia Tab A700.

Android 4.1.1

Kernal 3.1.10+

I'm having no success connecting the tablet to a television.

Two different TV's that have no problem with my laptop do not recognize the tablet.

Have tried 2 different HDMI cables, $4 cheapy and $30 Rocketfish.

Have tried every combination I can think of as far as which unit is powered on first, at what point the cable actually plugged in etc.

No Joy.

Downloaded the user manual, waste of time.

Is there something I'm missing, some setting I've not found or......

Love to get this working before the new season of Game of Thrones!!

TIA

Correct! If you are not seeing indication of the "HDMI Connected" in the bottom corner or anywhere on the screen, then it would indicate that the HDMI port is not working. This would require service and you can contact technical support in your region for service.

I tested our A700 with 2 HDMI micro (type D) cables and with two different displays; one 720p and 1080p. What I found was that one of the cables did not have a tight fit and wiggled around more than the other which caused a connection issue. Other than that I did not have a problem with getting my A700 to display to an external device.

When you connect your HDMI micro cable do you see "HDMI connected" in the bottom right of the A700 display?

If not that means it could be a bad connection between the cable and port or the HDMI port is bad. If the HDMI port is bad then it would require service. If you are using an HDMI micro adapter, then I would suggest trying an HDMI micro (Type D) cable instead of the adapter.

"When you connect your HDMI micro cable do you see "HDMI connected" in the bottom right of the A700 display?"

My wife has the unit with her, I'll check for that when she gets home this evening, I did not notice that message previously but then again I wasn't looking for it either (-:

    No, not using an adapter.

Using purpose made micro to standard HDMI cables. One el cheapo and one darn sure NOT cheapfrom Rocketfish.

I don't recall either end of either cable being loose in the ports but will also pay attention to that this evening as well.

Thanks for the reply AR, here's hopin' we can get this working.... Game of Thrones will be starting soon!

Tried both cables again, same results of no connection made.

"Wiggled" both ends of cable, no changes.

At no time did I see the HDMI Connection message on the A700 screen.

So, is this indicitive of a physical problem with the A700 ports, or is there a possible OS issue?
