AX3400G-U4802 won't boot

AX3400G-U4802 won't boot. When I turn it on, the blue power LED light flashes, but the does not remain on. I see the system has power as the CPU fan is spinning and I can feel the hard drive moving and the DVD drive open and closes as normal. No video appears on the monitor, not even BIOS info. Is it a bad motherboard? I attempted to put in a PCI-E video card to troubleshoot, but that did change anything. There are no beeps or tones on boot up to indicate bad RAM. Please help.

    Hi Spag5

Yes, it sounds as if you have a bad motherboard, or possibly a bad power supply. Sometimes, when power supplies fail, they may still power items like fans, and the DVD drive, but not enough to power the computer.

If you have the option of swapping out the power supply, it is worth a try, although, I think it is more than likely the motherboard at fault.

    Hi designertod

When your PC is stuck on the Acer logo, is there any hard disk activity on its LED indicator?

Are you able to acess safe mode, or is it like the Del and F12 options?

Try booting without anything attached. Remove all connected USB leads and even the mouse and keyboard. If it still doesn't get past the Acer logo screen, then post back....

I unplugged all of the USP pepheriphal and it started right up, What does this mean??? is my motherboard going bad?, I had previously tried to just un-plug the keyboard and it just went to the ACER screen, Thanks for your help in advance

    finlux,

my computer is as good as new, I have a USB external drive that was connected, when our cable company was here to replace my modem he apparently moved the cable and disconnected it from the back of the drive, thanks for just making me look, I feel pretty DUMB at this point

    Hi designertod

Not necessarily a bad mobo, but one of the items may be faulty or perhaps one of the motherboards USB sockets is at fault!

You will need to try one item at a time, rebooting your machine with every item you attach to find out what the problem may be. If you attach an item, and it fails to boot then THAT will be the faulty item (or possibly the faulty USB socket)!

It's a bit of a chore, but it will isolate the problem for you. Let us know how you get on!

This must be pretty common for model. I have one that just started doing the same exact thing that you decribed Spag5 and my daughter has one that she's been fighting with for more than a year. Every once in a while they come on but man don't power them down.
