Hi all.

I am trying to install Windows Vista from scratch on my brothers Aspire X3200.

However, After booting up to windows vista instalation, no disk is found.

I have looked at the BIOS to change Disk to IDE but no such option on this BIOS.

He hasn't done a copy to restore and software to creat one dos not work.

I have been to Acer driver suport page and all drivers are there appart from the drivers to be loaded on windows instalation setup so that install can see disk.

Anybody had the same issue?

How did you got round it please?

Any help much appreciated.

Regards,

Albert

    Hi Albert

When you say it cannot see the disk, do you mean the hard disk, or do you mean it is not booting from the DVD?

If it is the latter, then you may need to access BIOS, by pressing DEL, and changing the boot order to optical drive first. You can also use the F12 button to manually select the first boot.

If it is the former, then this may point to a faulty hard drive, and will need replacing.

Please post back if you require any further advice!

    Hi.

System boots up fine to Vista but we need a new fresh install.

System also boots fine from DVD.

It's the HDD that won't show on OS installation.

    Thank you.

    Hi Albert

    That's really strange!

Can you reinstall Windows from the recovery partition instead?

I have the same trouble, plus I cannot open my email to get responses.  AWhen I call, I get a tape asking fgor the serial number, but none of the numbers on the tower work and I cannot get to a person.  The number I was given by US Tech is disconnected.  zWhat do II do?  Mopy of Windows Vistav apparently deactivated itself and it won't do anything until it is reactivated

Yes the recovery partition is hidden, but will be visable in disk management.

It may point to an issue with the hard drive - not a mechanical problem, but the circuit board.
