USB Device not recognized error message (REALLY ANNOYING)

sHi,

I have been getting this error and no matter what I try:

1. upgrade the BIOS

2. upgrade the chipset

3. power down computer etc.

4. try and delete the device (it always tries and adds back the device driver)

5. go in to Device Manager and delete

6. upgrade operating system

I CANNOT stop this message and it's driving me crazy - the computer beeps every couple of seconds as well when you do go in to the Device Manager it's constantly refreshing every 2 seconds.

Any help would be REALLY APPRECIATED.  I've had 5 Acer computers in the past but this is the first time this has been happening.

Thank you.

Jen

Need more info. Does it do it when then device is not plugged in? The only reason why I'm asking this is because it almost sounds like the keyboard you are using has what is called a stuck key.

Hi, no the device is not connected.  Does sound almost like a stuck key - it's driving me crazy since I've tried many many things to get rid of the error except actually open up the netbook.  How could I tell if that was the case? Visually, doesn't appear like a key is stuck from looking at the keyboard.

Usually doesn't. I've never tried this, but if you have a USB keyboard, try plugging it in. This should bypass the keyboard on the netbook.

If this works, then you need to have a new keboard installed.

No luck.  When I go to Devices and Printers the screen keeps popping up under Unspecified - Unknown device.

I have gone in to Device Manager (even though it's refreshing every couple of seconds) and tried to uninstall or disable the device but not luck.

There must be a way to get rid of this annoying message??

All the 3 USB ports are operational as well.  Currently, I have an external USB mouse, USB keyboard and USB drive plugged in and they are all working fine.  So why it's still saying there's an error is beyond me.

If you go into the device in device manager are you able to see a device id or hw id for the uncognized device by any chance? It's a long shot, as Windows likely doesn't detect one, or it *should* be able to give you a better idea of what the device is even if there's no driver. It's almost as though it's having a hard time with something internally on the USB bus, such as the webcam for example.

Having the same problem, and Acer Crystal Eye webcam is no longer working.  Is that the device not recognized?  Is your webcam also not working?

Did you ever get your webcam working again?
