v5-571 not reading data dvd

I have an Aspire v5-571 that will not read a data dvd that I created on my desktop computer.

My other computers will read it easily but for some reason this one won't.  I have checked the driver version and it appears to be up to date.  I closed the dvds when I burned them.

Any other ideas on what I can do?

Thanks in advance!

Jim

    Jim,

Are you able to use manufactured CDs, like Audio or Software? Sometimes there can be compatibility issues, but I would start by trying to determine if the DVD drive will read anything and then move onto figuring out if it's specific disks or specific software creating the disks that can cause the issue.

The answer to that is yes and no.  Sometimes it does and sometimes it does not.

I recently bought a printer.  It did not read it at first.  I removed the dvd and reinserted it an couple times and then it finallt read it.

So it gives me a problem no matter what it is trying to read.  As a side note, it seems to read cds just fine......

I'd recommend contacting support. It's possible that the drive is failing on DVDs and needs to be replaced.

That was where I was heading next.  Or I will just replace the drive myself.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!
