Acer aspire v-122p won't switch on

My V5 122p won't switch on.

It was working fine last night but this morning it wouldn't come back on out of sleep.

When I press the on switch sometimes the battery symbol flashes amber, but the device will not turn on.

I've tried pressing the battery reset on the bottom. Tried some of the function keys but nothing appears to be working.

Any other ideas before I take back to the shop?

Thanks

    Hi MissChilli

Sounds as if your battery may be discharged, or possibly has an issue.

Connect the charger & attempt to switch on - it should now work. When booted into Windows, check the status of the battery. Leave it to charge fully, then start/use it on battery for a while. If the battery drains too quickly, or even if the laptop switches off as soon as you remove the charger, then you've a fault.

    Hi finlux

I've tried with the power cable in, so it looks like it needs to go back to the shop.

I take it on this model you can't remove the battery easily?

Funnily enough I'd only had this notebook on battery power a few hours prior to it turning off.

    Thanks for your help

You're right, the battery on your laptop is not easily removed.

If you're lucky, the shop you bought it from may well exchange it, otherwise contact Acer support for your region, who will fix it for you!

Good luck, and let us know how you get on!

    Hi Alikheiry

No resolution unfortunately, I think my unit has failed - so it's a trip to the shop I bought it from - I only purchased in September 2013.

    Hi Finlux

I need to get a cone hat with a big  D on the front.....

I'd been using the wrong charger so the battery had drained.  It's all back up and running now :-s

    Embarrassed.  Lots!

    Thanks for your help
