    since your notebook is equipped with 1x4gb and 1x2gb

    you only need to purchase another 1x4gb stick of memory

    According to Crucial, max is 16GB.  That would require you to remove your existing memory entirely, and replace it with 2 8GB modules though.  For $76, that's money well spent in my opinion.  It's good to know even if you don't upgrade right away, as memory prices typically decline over time, so upgrading next year might only cost you $50.
