I have owned an Acer Aspire 4339-2618 for about a year and a half. Recently decided to upgrade RAM (it only came w/2G). Big Mistake. In order to install RAM on this laptop you must remove the entire back panel....24 screws!!! Yes, y!!

ou heard me...24 tiny, difficult screws!! Where other manufacturers provider a separate panel for the RAM, Acer decided it was better to have the owner remove 24 screws and remove the ENTIRE back panel

This is just stupidity! I am just furious right now. Haven't got all of the screws out yet!!

Did you look this up ahead of time? It looks like there is a compartment just over the RAM you can open to switch it out.

Actually, I did look it up and and, sorry you are wrong. The back is one solid piece. There is no "cover" for RAM as most notebooks have. Did I mention 24 little, tiny screws!!! That is what holds it together.

    Twenty-four tiny itty-bitty screws!!!!

Apparently they are moving towards the Apple mantra of increasing difficulty to access the internals. My wife's MacBook Pro has 10 screws.
