My computer want's to start up the program but can't for some reason.

I tried to restore my pc with ALT+F10 that works but still the same problem can't open the program.

Has someone a idea to fix that problem.

Check the label for the key on the backside (bottom) of the laptop.

Also, have you tried booting into safe mode?

Sorry JackE - but Windows 8 do not provide serial keys underneath the laptop.

Thanks for the info, hecticated. Is there a way we can point Dieter to the solution more directly without all the links. Just how can he do it without going from one link to another.  I'm even more confused now. And I'm now even more happy that I only have Win7 & Lunux to deal with on my own stuff.  8^)

    Sure there is -

I'll just explain it all right here.

COA labels are no longer provided for Windows 8 and above - serial numbers are embedded in the BIOS.

This means that OEM versions of Windows simply need to be installed and detect the serial number automatically.

How do you get an OEM version? Back up discs (or recovery discs) are one way to get an OEM version. The trouble with these is that - most people forget to get make them because they don't come standard in the box of any new laptop (they must be made with Recovery Disc Creator)

Secondly, to get a non backed up OEM version is not possible through a download off the Microsoft website (or anywhere really) - Microsoft have made it particularly difficult to do this.

So the solution is quite simple - get a regular retail version and install it using the generic key (legal and widely available by Microsoft themselves). This is created by Microsoft to allow you to install an "Inactivated" copy of Windows.

Once it's installed - remove the generic key and install the OEM key and you're done.

The whole process from start to finish is explained in this video here:
