HUGE Problems with Brand New Acer Aspire S7

The first day I received my computer we opened it up and it looked beautiful.

That is where the good experience ended.

The computer does not work.  Every time I close the lid the screen will not come back on.  Once this happens the only thing that will sometimes work is I need to force a power down and then do a battery reset.  Once I do this, sometimes the computer will reboot properly.  Other times it reboots and I get a Windows Blue Crash screen and it restarts.

When it does reboot, the screen will come on and the touchscreen will work, but the mouse and keyboard are no longer functional.

I have spent hours with tech support and they have no idea what is happening.  They keep assuring me a reboot will fix everything then it doesnt.  They have had me completrely reinstall windows...this worked for a couple of days.  Then the same problems all over again.

Now they conclude that my computer, which didnt work from day 1, has a hardware problem.

The solution?  Mail it to Texas and wait 2 weeks for them to try and repair and send it back.

I purchased this computer for my son who needs it in school every day.  He cannot go 2 weeks without a computer.

So the bottom line is I purchased an expensive computer from Acer..on Day 1 it has hardware problems out of the box, and the best they can do is suggest I mail it and wait 2 weeks for them to hopefully fix the issue.

I am stunned.  First that such an expensive product would have these issues immediately and second that they would not immediately replace it given the issues.

I own many different computers and devices, and I have encountered and dealt with many types of issues.  They happen.  I get it.  But this is, in my opinion, inexcusable support.  I Have never encountrered a situation like this where the manufacturer would not immediately replace a product that is brand new and, by their  own admission, defective.  I will repeat this post on a number of other forums as I believe its an impoortant warning to people that they should NOT PURCHASE FROM ACER.  Not worth the risk of poor product quality and very very unacceptable customer service.

Very similar problem. the computer just cannot reboot after an update of windows 8! It is lie dead. Using reset, works for  half an hour, then all black. Blue light off when the AC is unplugged. The start light now does not turn on...what can I do? Acer is really letting me down..;. could be windows 8, isn't it?

they diagnosed mine as a "hardware problem".

Thats whats so disapppointing.  The hardware is their responsibility...but they refuse to take it on.

I returned mine.  Will probably get a Samsung instead.

Bought mine in August. SSD failed in October (was getting blue screens/random shut downs -- got a final blue screen and it wouldn't turn back on). Lost everything (didn't back up for those 2 months - dumb!), but Acer shipped it to their warehouse, replaced the SSD and shipped it back to me in 3 days. I haven't had any problems ever since.

Have you spoken to someone on the phone or just through email?

I understand how this can be frustrating, but it's a great computer. I hope this gets sorted for you, and quickly. Good luck.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I did speak to people on the phone multiple times but it was no help.

I returned the computer and got a Samsun Ativ.  Not a single problem since.

I bought my Acer Aspire S7 just before going on a 3 month trip to Europe, and had WIFI connection problems from day 1. As I could not return it straight away I soldiered on with keyboard problems (Characters are repeated), WIFI problems, slow running and so on. I regretted the purchase from day one but because of my travels could not do anything about it. I could only use the S7 while it is connected to the main power, as it switched itself off when it ran on battery. I finally I had sent the unit in for repairs of this battery problem. It took them more than 3 weeks to return the S7 to me. When I turned the unit on after the repair, I could use it only for 15 minutes before it switched it self off again!!!! So obviously nothing was done to fix the existing battery problem. The repair report stated 'Recovery System only". Nothing was stated that they had checked the battery. What a useless Service. Now they want me to send the unit back to do it all over again. NEVER EVER WOULD I BUY AN ACER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
