    Which monitor are you using?

How do you have it connected to the computer, HDMI, DVI, VGA, Display Port?

Not sure, has an e on it

There should be a white label with a bar code on the back that has a serial number/SNID. Also on that label, it should say what the model of the monitor is. If it has an "E" on it it could be an eMachines monitor, or that could just be the Empowering symbol on some Acer monitors. Smiley Happy

What type of computer are you connecting it to; desktop, notebook?

How is it possible to identify the monitor, if the little white label is missing.

I have a 27" monitor, with 'ACER' at the top/left front, and it has 'ACER LED TECHNOLOGY'

    on the stand.

There are NO other identifying marks.

The monitor has been working fine for about a year with a resolution of 1920x1080

A system disk failure and I need to restore the monitor driver.

    I cannot remember the series.

The setup/detector program 'SystemInformationSetup.msi' returns nothing -- it appears to not work -- nothing happens.

How many different 27" monitors does acer make.

Would there be any harm is trying them all?

On the bezel (plastic around the screen) of the monitor there might be something that identifies the monitor as well. Mine is located in the upper right of the bezel and says V226WL. Do you have anyhting like that?

Acer has quite a few 27" monitor listings out there on their drivers page, you'd really want to narrow it down. What operating system are you running? Windows 7 will usually detect the monitor and have an optional download for it through Windows update, mine did at least.

There is no indications on the monitor, that would identify the specific monitor.

On the front of the screen is the word 'ACER' at the extreme upper-left corner.

On the rear of the monitor is the word 'acer' [5inches x 1.5inches]. Nothing else.

There is a line on the foot stand (not on the monitor) 'ACER LED TECHNOLOGY'

On the slanted arm that supports the monitor there is the monitor controls:

    e

    auto

    menu

    <

    >

    o      <on/off

When touching the e some icons appear and I can move the cursor left and right, but there is no combination of keys that I can manage to get something selected.  Apparently this is for show and does nothing.

Oops. sorry, the on/off switch works!

In Windows7 the monitor is recognized as a generic plug & play

The driver (downloaded yesterday from this site) was pointed to by Win7 display manager and the result was that the display is working properly, except the 1920x1080 resolution is NOT possible.

Is there any way to have Win7 communicate with the monitor?

    The monitor is a S273HL

I used the Acer diskette and re-installed the video drivers.

Windows says all is is perfect working order for the GENERIC PnP monitor, with max resolution of 1920x1440 which will not work on the acer monitor, but 1600x1200 will work.

The Intel video graphics card says that it will support the 1920x1080 resolution, but for some reason windows will not communicate with the monitor and the Acer monitor driver will install successfully (it says) but it appears as if

windows is ignoring the installation and is simply using its own generic drivers.

Since no else has ever had this problem, acer cannot help.

At this point it appears that the only solution is to get another monitor (not ACER) and see if it will display the desired resolution.

    I'm really tired of this.

Maybe next week I can laugh about it.

I'm hoping someone can help with guesses of what to try next.

Curious, if there isn't anything saying what the monitor is how did you come to the solution of it being a S273HL monitor? Let's try and rule out the computer being the issue:

    • How do you have this computer connected, HDMI, DVI, VGA, Display Port?
    • Are you using an adapter of some sort to connect the monitor and computer?
    • I'm assuming you're using onboard graphics since you said Intel video graphics card, is this plugged into a notebook or desktop?
    • Have you had this problem since the purchase of the monitor?
    • Have you hooked up another monitor to your computer using the same connection to see if it experiences the same issue?

I'm not entirely sure I would discount Acer for help, especially if you haven't contacted them yet. Smiley Happy

    @JC_1234

After searching through a bunch of CD's, DVD, I found a CD with S273HL on it for the 27" monitor.

All of the "help" suggested by ACER, did nothing.

One nuance:  the help file said to click the ORANGE icon, but all of the colors on the screen were green.

Plus there was no icon to click -- unless the word 'download' was intended to be used in place of an actual icon.

I was hoping for some assistance, but was not expecting much from Acer techs, and my expectations were met.

My plans are to take the monitor to a computer store and have a tech slap it with some tests.

I really believe that large companies such as ACER are only helpful when they are starting; after that they are just

too busy/big to care about prior/existing customers.

    Thanks for replying.

Acer monitors generally carry a 3 year warranty, if you haven't contacted them for assistance I'd recommend doing so. If it's having a hardware issue and it's in warranty they'll service it for you. Depending on when you purchased the unit, you can contact Acer by chat or phone, (800) 816-2237 and see about getting support from them.

    Thank you much.

The computer geek informed me that the built in intel graphics driver was the problem.

He went through a bunch of simple trivial explanations but in technical terms it is this:

a gremlin in skipping around the motherboard tripped over a diode/capacitor got hurt and in a fit of rage knocked out the video.

His recommendation was to send the board back to Intel for repair/replacement.

I appreciate the replies, but am somewhat disappointed in Acer for not having a few diagnostic questions to help

isolate/determine the source of the aggravation.  It could have saved me $50.

    Again, thanks.
