Acer Aspire v3 772G direction keys

Hey peoples, I just bought an Acer Aspire v3 the other day which for the most part is working brilliantly, but when I tried playing an older game, using the direction keys I ran into a problem.
The keyboard seems to have the issue when you can hold down a direction arrow just fine, but the moment you hit another direction arrow the first deactivates, which makes it incredibly difficult to play precision based games using the directional arrows.
For some games the keypad works fine, but not all, and the down arrow is harder to reach on the keypad.
Does anyone know how to deactivate this?  I've looked around but I wouldn't know where to this type of setting or what it would even be called.

Godric, many older games will not play on a newer operating system, or at least will not play well. You can try compatibility Mode. But my beloved Warcraft will not play on WIndows 8 no matter what I try.

The games themselves work fine, it's the direction keys that don't.

I probably should've said Simpler games rather than older games, such as platformers or top down games that feel older because they don't require high end graphics and things.  I'm talking about games like Iji or Binding of Isaac.  They work just fine, but say I'm walking sideways and I have to press the up key to jump to reach the next ledge, my character will stop moving sideways, despite the key still pushing right.

I don't believe it's a compatability issue, I've got Virtual Machine to work with older games (windows 98 era) that aren't compatable with windows 8.
