laptop will not run off battery-Acer Aspire 7750

My Acer Aspire 7750 notebook would not run off of the battery; it runs on the A/C power only. As soon as I remove the A/C cord the notebook shuts off completely.

When running on A/C and the battery is in the meter shows 100%. If I remove the battery (with the A/C still on) the battery meter indicates no battery detected. This tells me the netbook is recognizing the battery (at least as far as charging is concerned).

The battery led is blue and when I plug in the A/C cord the led is lit up blue.

I did a system restore back to the factory settings and that did not solve the problem.

Everything else works fine and there are no error messages when booting up.

When the A/C cord is unplugged, the notebook will not start on battery power.

Now I have a netbook that I can not use unless an A/C power outlet is nearby.

Could you please advise me on what to do,as I am really disappointed, this is my first acer product that I have purchased..please help. Thank you

    Hi Kiran1

Is the charger the original one that came with your laptop? Sometimes, replacement chargers won't charge the battery if the voltage is wrong. Or it may be that the battery has completely failed. If you take it along to your local PC store, they can check it for you by using a multimeter.

If the battery is dead (or close to), then it will be time to replace it.

If you are still in warranty your battery will be covered, there's also a chance that the power board is the issue. If the battery doesn't fix the issue and you're out of warranty I may be able to help. Hopefully the battery will take care of it though.

And long time no see Finlux, hope your new year is off to a good start!

    Take care,

    ScottyC

Kiran, it is possible for a laptop to recognize a failed battery and think that it is fully-charged. You probably need to buy a new battery.

Try the Universal Laptop Cure, guaranteed to work 10% of the time. Remove the battery and power cord and hold the Power Button down for one minute. Put it back together and try it out.

Another cure is to start up the laptop and then remove the power cord to get the battery kicked into life.

    Kiran1,

We released an update in May 2011 to assist with this issue. It may be possible that you did not receive this update. If you could, please download and install the Intel Graphics Driver v8.15.10.2342. This driver is available on our support site and I'll link it below.
