Is the Pentium 987 considered a faster processor than either the Celeron 877 or 847?

They are architecturally very similar. The 987 will be a little faster as it's 100mhz faster. Oddly enough the Celeron seems to support the VT-x virtualization instructions, but I highly doubt that you'll ever have a need to run virtualized instances of another operating system. Both are ultra low voltage processors, so I'm sure you know they are both quite slow in order to be easy on power (17w TDP).
