RAM Upgrade Aspire 7741Z

I installed two 4 GB 1600 Mhz RAM chips to upgrade my Aspire 7741Z. When I restarted the computer, Windows obvously didn't like it. It kept going to a screen that said something about a hardware change. It wouldn't even start in safe mode. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The processor is an Intel P6100 @ 2.00 Ghz. Can anyone help?

Might be the installable memory restricted by the Motherboard chipset or in BIOS, I have seen these laptops with 3GB memory and I believe the maximum memory may be 4GB. I think 8GB is too much to handle for it.
