Does anyone know if I can switch out the hard drive in an aspire one 270 and put the hard drive from an aspire 725 in it's place?

    HI Mcavoy

You can, but it is not likely to boot into Windows due to different mobo specs (chipset) and drivers. At best it will boot, but will be unusable & unresponsive, at worst it will Blue screen.

The only way it would work, if it was the same mobo with the same drivers....

Is there anyway I could link up the two somehow? See the harddrive is screwed on one and the screen is cracked on the other? Are there some cables I could use to link one to the other?

You can certainly use the good hard drive in the good laptop, but you would need to reinstall Windows from scratch, either from recovery disks or a retail version of Windows. Plus you'll need the correct drivers.

Could I just put the good hard drive in the good laptop then boot a Linux distro from a USB?

Yes, you can use Linux should you wish!
