Hi.

I'm trying to restore my Acer Iconia W3, but it gives me an error during the restore process. I think that my DVD is damaged, where can I get a new one? I call to Acer support and they told me that they can't send me a new recovery disc, I must send the tablet to repair Smiley Sad

The Acer Store may have recovery media, but is regionally dependant.

Technical support would be the only other avenue for getting assistance with recovery.

Does your tablet still boot to windows?
If so, just add a new user with admin control.
Now switch to it and delete the old profile user.
This will factory reset the tablet as the old data and settings are deleted.
Now after completing that, just link the new offline user to your Microsoft account.
    Much quicker than a restore.

I use an externally powered DVD. If you try to use a external DVD on the W3's USB power, it may start but it probably won't finish, It just does not have enough power for rotating media.

Also there are a lot of USB enclosures (powered or unpowered) that are desined to take the drive from a laptop. One of those could allow you to temporarily use a DVD drive from one of the laptops... Not a huge cost savings over an external drive, but if every penny counts...
