whenever I start running some program that uses 4 cores, the clocks are throttled to 2.0-2.1GHZ even though the temperatures are low

what gives?

How are you able to tell it is throuttled to 2.0-2.1 GHZ?

Are you using a third party program to tell speed and temp?

Are you actually having problems with the system performing? If so, please provide additional details.

    Hi

    1. I'm using HWInfo to monitor stats. The frequency do not go above 2.1GHZ

    2. HWInfo

    3. Yes, I do have problems. Besides the fact that it does not perform optimally, the clocks are also kept high even under the "Power Saver" power mode even if I do nothing. This has impact on battery performance

About the 2.1GHZ - It hurts while gaming I assume

1 & 2. HWInfo is a third party program, and we can not guarantee that it is accurately reporting how the hardware is performing. Acer uses approved programs for quality testing system components to ensure they behave according to the specifications we advertise. We have not tested the system with this program, so can not guarantee the results it provides are accurate.

    3. Gaming on any system has an impact on battery performance, but other than that, the only description of the problem is that it does not perform optimally. Can you please provide additional details, or scenarios that we can attempt to reproduce?

Have you loaded any other 3rd party hardware monitoring utilities or software? How does the system perform if these items are removed?

    thanks

1 & 2. HWInfo is a well known and used freeware - it is accurate and it has same results as other application. If you have your own software, you have to publish it, otherwise, how can we compare things?

    3. I've used only the AMD Control Center that comes with AMD's drivers. I've tried removing all the monitoring applications and there was no difference

Acer has many quality controls in place to verify the specifications we publish, we do not post utilities for end user evaluation. Again, we can not guarantee all results from third party programs either.

If you have set your computer to use the dedicated graphics processor, instead of the integrated one, I don't really have additional troubleshooting suggestions.

If you will reply with specific information about the programs you are running, and the exact problems you are experiencing, we may be able to better assist you or someone else from the community may have other suggestions.
