hello, my laptop came with lunix on boot-up. i installed windows 8 , i even updated it to the latest bios and other drivers but when i updated my acer aspire v5 573g to windows 8.1.  it was very slow on bootup  and then after 2 or 3 bootups it started giving me errors.  i think its an issue of the drivers update. though i have all the latest drivers. i think there have to be new updates coming for my acer laptop coz its a big preoblem coz i cant update until i have the new drivers. i guess there has to be an update of the bios, vga intel graphic card , and the lan driver coz these are the ones i think are giving problems after updating to windows 8.1. so please if somebody has any info. on what else i should be looking for wich might give me problems can help me understand.

thank you very much .

I have the same problem, and l got my new aspire V5 573G. I took it to the shop that l bouth it, and they try to fix it, but could´t.  So l got a new one, and try the same thing to update from windows 8 to windows 8.1 And in the end l got an error that said : DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE.  When l got the labtop it was said that it comes with windows 8.1  But it did not.. So do anyone have the answer for this problem.. if Acer dont have it l dont know what to do......

    Hello!

I'd suggest to revert back to Windows 8.0. Due to changes Microsoft have made in 8.1, there have been some issues with drivers etc not functioning properly.

If you wish to persevere with 8.1, see the Acer flow chart here.

I suggest to uninstall all the software and drivers pre-installed by Acer and go on Windows Update in order to get the latest drivers available

At first, my V5-573G failed to update Windows 8 to 8.1 too. (DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE and the usual) I tried lots of different tricks, naturally installed all the latest updates to Windows 8, updated my BIOS from v.2.21 to v.2.24 and deleted all my videocard drivers (both Nvidia 750M and Intel HD Graphics) and none of them seemed to help. After a while I got tired of trying and I was satisfied with the Win8. I updated my videocard drivers to the latest (750M to v. 331.82) and once by accident my computer started to update itself to 8.1. I thought: "Nevermind, let's wait that 30min and let the computer to restore itself back to Windows 8." Of course this time the update was installed without any problems. So the magic trick seemed to be just updating the 750M's drivers to the latests. Of course installing the latest updates to windows 8 and BIOS update might have had some effect too. In addition due to uninstalling the Intel drivers in the first place, it seems that my computer has the latest drivers of it too. During the install, I didn't even unplug my external mouse or the ethernet cable.

All in all, the oldest trick in the book, updating everything seems to be best way around with Windows 8.1 too.
