My acer laptop won't just show anything on the screen after powering on. Except only once when I tried f8 it wouldn't go beyond "explore beyond limits". The screen then started blinking with different dotted colours. But now its not showing anything. I have tried f2 nothing. F8 nothing . What can I do to for the laptop to boot n shw the screen please help.

    Hi Nangabo13

Try to connect you laptop to an external monitor via the HDMI or VGA port (found on the left side). Once connected, switch on the monitor then start up your laptop, wait for a moment, then press FN + F5, which loops the output to laptop screen, external monitor and both.

If the laptops output is displayed on the monitor, then there may be an issue with its screen, or perhaps a loose connection.

If there is still no display, then it may be a motherboard issue.

Either way, you will need to have it repaired, so contact Acer support for your region, if still under warranty, or visit your local PC store if it isn't.

Is there any activity on the hard drive light?

If there is no activity then there is a fair chance that the laptop has motherboard issues

There's is a light where there is a star next to the battery one . All the indicators are showing. Unless I don't I understand the hard drive light

The hard disk light looks like this:

If it is lit up (solid) or if there is NO activity (regular or rhythmic flashing indicates normal activity), then your motherboard has more than likely failed.

You could try one thing. Remove the battery & any other connections, and hold down the power button for 40-60 seconds. Replace the battery, and charger then try to boot.

The lid lights are just normal like before. I have tried the instructions above but no fruits yet. What makes me **bleep** worried is that I bought this unit in South Africa last month before moving to kenya. So I can't use my warranty.
Could the problem be solved by recovery. Tho I don't know hw to do it

It sounds like a hardware issue, so a recovery will not make any difference.

I'd still contact Acer support - they should still be able to help!

I have found these support dealers in Kenya. Give them a call or an email to see if they can assist!
