Can`t startup Acer aspire V3-571G "Scanning and Repairing Drive (E): 27%"

Hi! I have an Acer aspire V3-571G. But I have a problem now, when I startup, the screen with the Acer logo appears, with the message: "Scanning and Repairing Drive (E): 27% Complete" and it never moves past 27%. So I unplugged the computer some times and sometimes a message appears asking me to restore to a previous version. After I tried to restore, only a screen with the Acer logo appears. Before I rebooted the computer and had this problem, I downloaded a Disk Scanner software from the Ookla Speedtest website, but since it can`t fix all problems, I downloaded another similar software by AVG Netherlands BV and fixed all problems. Then they said I needed to fix something in Device Manager (3 of my miniports weren`t working) so I searched the net for a solution, which I followed and uninstalled all 3 miniports. After the AVG scan, it did ask me to reboot, which I did later and was unable to get into Windows anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've finally solved this problem! After startup, keep pressing F9, then click on 'Restore'. Then you'll need to be patient and the computer will startup normally! Wish this helps others with this problem too.

    Welcome aboard Bryan.

Three reviews of your machine from reputable sites agree that your laptop has unusually powerful internal hardware for the price, and that might be the source of your problem. The software you downloaded and ran to correct problems probably fouled up your system. This advice is late, but you should always set a System Restore Point before doing anything major on your machine.

It also appears from your post that you have more than one problem. Did you change the original operating system? If you did, you erased your Acer drivers and possibly deleted your restore partition. When the two programs you downloaded to correct your problems got through with your machine, it was in even more trouble.

You mentioned that you tried to restore your system. If you did a complete overwrite, that will take a very long time, and you might not have allowed the rewrite to finish when it was on 27%. For the record, I did something like that, and it stayed on  76% for about half an hour.

And now, the cure. First, the universal cure works about 10% of the time. Unplug your machine, remove the battery, and hold the Power Button down for sixty seconds. This will refresh your BIOS. Then restart.

There is a 90% chance that it won't work, so try to borrow a legal copy of your operating system, put it into the optical drive, and reboot. MAYBE it will take you to a repair menu.

You can purchase recovery disks from Acer elsewhere on this site if that doesn't work.

And finally, a good computer shop can probably get you going if all else fails.

Thanks for the reply. No, I didn't change my OS. And AVG TuneUp 2013 did help me create a restore point before fixing the problems. But affter doing some research, I've found out that many people having my problem had used TuneUp and are using the Windows 8 OS, including on computers of different brands (ASUS, etc.) so I think it's a problem with AVG and I think I should post at the AVG forums.

I am having the same problem. I fell asleep with my laptop on bed the night before. I was just using facebook! It drained out its battery by the time I woke up. So it starts up with a 1 second, press any to key to skip scanning, then it continues with scanning and repairing drive (:C) with the big acer logo and black background. For a few mins I got to 2% and it didn't move anymore for the next 10mins. Any help please?

EDIT: well I waited through and it was able to finish, and it worked Smiley Happy) wew!
Then Windowss 8 popped a notification if I should send or don't send to microsoft, it refered to 3 files. It said about mini dump, memory and an app based on the codes. I still want to know what caused the problem and why? any answers would be very very grateful to me. Smiley Happy))

EDIT 2: So, well, I got happy to soon. After editing my post the first time, a blue screen appeared with the sound errrr, saiying ERROR on

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

then it turned off. I rebooted and it went to the scanning and repairing again twice before It opened up. the same errors appeared upon startup and I was able to take a screen shot, but I can't any upload button in here, so yeah... help?
