Nope, that's exactly what that BIOS update was for. :-)

I came across this post looking to solve a similar problem with an aspire notebook (7750-6669) running Windows 7.  After it came back from Acer for a repair to the SD card slot, the laptop stopped charging (and of course I only noticed this after it just wouldn't boot with my data on it!)  After trouble-shooting with Acer, they replaced the battery.  Well that didn't work, and so then Acer replaced the power supply cord - or I should say "part" of it.  They sent the section of the cord that actually starts with the adaptor and plugs into the computer (not the part of the cord that plugs into the wall on one end and plugs into the adaptor on another).   So now I had 2 adaptor-to-computer sections of the cord.

I noticed that if the power supply was interrupted (disconnect, surge, etc) when it was plugged in, or removed before the computer was entirely shut down, the laptop would stop recognizing that an adaptor was plugged in and wouldn't charge.   Frankly pretty annoyed with the inconvenience of once again having to sending this off to Acer, I decided try switching the sections of the power cord. First disconnecting the power from the laptop, then switching the cords where the wall section connects to the adaptor, and then replugging the switched cord is plugged back into the laptop (laptop on or off).  Haven't figured out why but the computer once again recognizes the power supply (yes!) and will charge the battery....so if I travel with this, carry both adaptor-to-computer cords.  If you can get your hands on another power supply maybe this would work for you too.

I know how to check the bios version on a laptop or desktop pc, but how do I do it on a tablet?  How would I go about updating the bios to see if this works for me?

    Thanks

Easiest way to check BIOS version on a Windows tablet is to use the MSInfo32.exe program. It's included with the OS and gives you a lot of details you can't easily find elsewhere.
