    Hi allstarsusie33!

Sure, but I need to know the following:

    1. What version of Windows are you running?

    2. What do you want to use it for? (Watching DVD's, burning disks - audio or data)

Post back, and I'll see what I can do!

Windows 8 does not have built in codecs to watch DVD's on anymore, but you can download either of the following media players, so can can watch them:

Media Player Classic - Just select the installer option x64 for 64 bit Windows (This should be the one you have) or x86 for 32 bit

VideoLan Media Player - Just select the installer 32 bit or 64 bit here

    Hope this helps!

Yes you can, but you may need to install one of the media players I mentioned!

Try playing a DVD in your drive. If it fails to play, then you will need to install either one of the programs. Microsoft decided not to include the codec that is needed to play a DVD in Windows 8.

Media Player Classic & VLC player both contain the needed codec to play them.
