A500 tablet has developed a freezing issue

I am hoping someone may know why I am having the following problem and perhaps be able to recomend a way to fix it.

We have an A500 tablet that has worked well for a couple years.  This past summer, I was able to succesfully instal the 4.0 operating system upgrade and all was working fine.  So whatever my problem is, I don't believe it is the same as others have had with the upgrade.

A new problem has arisen the last month or so where the tablet will power up fine and I can open the screen and usually get into a program and then the screen becomes very unresponsive.  I cannot say it freezes up as I am able to get it to do a few things if I hold my finger on it long enough, but actions like swiping through a list are impossible.

At first I got several antivirus apps and ran them, but they did not find any malware on the tablet.

Next, I tried using some system diagnosis apps to tell me what is running and I cant find a particular App or system function that appears to be taking over the tablet, yet it will show the CPU maxed out at 100% when it happens.

Another symptom of the "issue" is that when this occurs, it always turns off my WiFi reception and I cannot turn it back on as it seems to get stuck in "Shutting off WiFI"

So far, the only thing I can do is reboot it, and usually after rebooting it 3 or 4 times, the problem seems to resolve and I can use the tablet normally until the next time it goes to sleep or is shutoff.

Any insight would be much appreciated!

    hi....

You may perform a hardware reset.

To do this, simply use a small, thin object, such as a paperclip, to press the recessed reset button located on the bottom of the tablet.

You can reset the software back to factory default configurations and have a fresh start. To do thtis, use the following method:

Note: This processes will erase all of your personal information, all stored contacts and any programs you have installed on your tablet.

Factory Data Reset via Software Menus

    1. From the Apps menu, tap on Settings, and then tap Privacy.
    2. Tap on Factory Data Reset, and then tap Reset Tablet.
    3. Tap Erase Everything to format your tablet back to factory default configuration.

Thank you for your opinion of how to solve the problem.

After further research into the issue, I feel I may be suffering from the GPS Memory link error on the tablet and will first try the fix outlined in another thread here related to that.

If that does not work, I will consider your idea.
