It is helpful to let the community know the following:

    What computer do you have?
What operating system is on the computer?

Do you have any error messages?

sorry not replied before now, but still got this problem.

    message on blue screen states.

a clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor

i have the acer x3470 desktop, running windows 7 home edition.

It seems to be common problem with the x3 tc/ap games. A fix was reported as being a bios update, which i already have from last year. is there any new bios that i could use.

Where did you see "a fix reported"?

Have you attempted to reset defaults in BIOS?

Have you attempted to do a recovery of the system?

Have there been any other hardware or software changes to the system?

Yes i have re installed the system from back up discs provided a few times, i have set default in bios (still on default now) i have also since added a gtx 560 gpu, and disabled on board apu graphics, (after putting it into a new case with bigger psu) and the problem is still there even after reinstalling the game after a fresh windows re-install.This problem was mentioned a few times on egosoft and steam forums and sounded very similar to mine. In fact one member had the exact same board and cpu, same problem, I am now waiting for x rebirth and praying i can play it, or it's a new board and cpu for me.

Others with similar chip but different boards stated that a bios update had cured it. (but no newer bios exists for my board)  Other threads i have read mention nested page instructions where the one core passes and instruction to the second core and doesnt recieve an answer soon enough.

Also on the passmark site there was a mention of a bug (AMD llano A-series benchmark and CPU bug) with these chips reporting wrong clock speeds, they even issued there own fix, but did state that it slowed the cpu speed down. i am not tech savvy enough enough to know if it is related but AMD did put this out in a document. Also lower down in the post this was mentioned: [If you don't apply the patch then any application that uses division runs the risk of having random behavior. This random behavior doesn't need to be a BSOD, but could manifest itself in other ways, e.g. a bad calculation, an application crash, screen artifacts, etc..]

i have not tried this fix as i didn't know enough about what it would do to my machine.

Link to this is here:  http://www.passmark.com/forum/showthread.php?3656-AMD-llano-A-series-benchmark-and-CPU-bug

Also i only recently noticed this on the same page.

[I have been using the Llano (fusion) core CPU's in many builds. We have had over 50 units with this issue (before patch) and after a little testing found the problem easily corrected via the RAM. If you use only one module (single channel) of 4Gb DDR3 PC3-10666/PC3-12800 then the CPU runs OK and fast for the Llano. However running more than 4Gb or any amount in dual channel you hit this wall of problems...]

I do now have 2 x 4gb ddr3 12800 ram installed, but only had the one when i bought the pc and installed the game.

    [From AMD document]

665 Integer Divide Instruction May Cause Unpredictable Behavior
    Description
Under a highly specific and detailed set of internal timing conditions, the processor
core may abort a speculative DIV or IDIV integer divide instruction (due to the
speculative execution being redirected, for example due to a mispredicted branch)
but may hang or prematurely complete the first instruction of the non-speculative path.

    Potential Effect on System
Unpredictable system behavior, usually resulting in a system hang.

    Suggested Workaround
    BIOS should set MSRC001_1029[31].
This workaround alters the DIV/IDIV instruction latency specified in the Software
Optimization Guide for AMD Family 10h and 12h Processors, order# 40546. With
this workaround applied, the DIV/IDIV latency for AMD Family 12h Processors
are similar to the DIV/IDIV latency for AMD Family 10h Processors.

    Fix Planned
    No

You have disassembled the system as shipped, changed PSUs, video cards, etc.

It is no longer the system that we shipped and I would not be able to support any of the changes that you have carried out.  This is also primarily about a third party game that we do not ship with the system nor offer support for.

i am aware of this, but i bought the pc from ACER new only 18mnths ago, I bought it mainly to play this game (as i love x3 games and played all previous titles) I also have an ACER laptop which struggled performance wise to play the game, but never crashed. So to put is simply i purchased thic PC from ACER, went home and installed my game, only to have it continually blue screen after 15-60 mins of play randomly, Ok, so otherwise it worked ok, played other games ok. But then to find there is a possible bug which may have stopped me enjoying my game on my computer that i bought to run it, was annoying. I tried at the time to cure, getting stone walled by acer and amd, only to recently find the info i have now. So you could say i was sold a dud in the first place, the upgrades were another attemt to solve the problems by way of new graphics card, which required a new case and psu. All i am asking for is advice from a forum from the company i bought it from. Still the same board and cpu where the problem lies. All i asked is if there was a newer bios or a fix available, maybe passmark has done acers job, if i try it and it works.

This game that you are attempting to play is not an Acer installed or supported piece of software.

I'm sorry that you are having issues with it.  I know it is quite frustrating.

With all other software working properly, it appears to be isolated to the games that you are attempting to play from a particular developer.

I do not know what BIOS is presently on the system, so I'm unable to recommend any particular BIOS to attempt an update.  BIOS are available on the Drivers page, with all other drivers and downloads available for the system.
