Acer iconia a500 charging 12%

Bought a used Iconia A-500 tablet, then bought a replacement charge designed for the A-500, but when connected and turned on shows "charging 12%" and cannot open/unlock. Kept connected overnight, display did not change. Bought new battery, reconnected and same as before.Charger is rated for 2 amps, 12 volts DC.

Any suggestions as to why it is not charging?

Is it charging at all? If it's getting to 12% can we assume that it's able to boot the machine into the OS? Can you use it while it remains plugged in?

Also, I would recommend using an AC Adapter from us. 3rd party adapters can occasionally cause random issues.

If the power supply is not plugged in, it does not turn on.

With the power supply plugged in, pressing the power button causes it to vibrate andgo throught the sndroid screen to then to the sign in screen. However, when trying to drag outside the circle, nothing happens and is not sensitive to any actions. Screen always show it "charging 12%" even if left plugged in overnight. Removing the power supply shuts the system down.

If I plug the supply in and it goes throught the android screen, if I immediately drag outside the circle as soon as it appears, it will react by turning itself off.

So it there anything you know that I can do short of using a BIG hammer?

And thanks for the response. It's appreciated.
