Acer Aspire One D250 won't work

When I start turn on the power button, the power button lights up, and the fan blows for a second, but nothing else happens. The screen is blank. The front power light is lit showing green. But nothing else is happening. I reset the computer. I reseated the hard drive and memory. Nothing works.

This computer worked a month ago. I used it at a local library. I logged off and shut it down. I brought it home and placed it in my drawer, where I always keep it. Then I turned it on a few days ago, and the above it what I got.

I tried using FN+ESC and hold the power button down. Then I released FN and ESC key. The power light stays on. Nothing else happens.

Please advise.

    Hello,

You already did power reset it seems. Seem to understand that a recovery did not work.  Fan on for only a few seconds, may be hardware problem fan or hdd??

I would recommend you contact Acer support for your region to inquire about setting your unit up for service.

I took the hard drive and memory out initially to see if the screen would at least show something, but nothing shows. I am at a loss for what happened. I've been working on computers for many years and one thing I know from past experience is that when the memory goes bad, it can cause the computer not to start at all. However, even without memory in the computer, the screen should at least come on to show something. In the boot process, the video drivers are loaded by the BIOS first so everything can be seen on the screen. The fan is connected directly to the power supply, so that will come on when the unit is first turned on. My only concern is that the fan doesn't stay on. It shuts off within seconds of coming on.

Since the screen doesn't show, it is obvious the BIOS is not running. As such, the power supply may not be getting to the motherboard. It may only be gettng to the power switch, the fan, and the front power indicator. That's it. Could it be the power supply circuit has malfunctioned? I may have to take this netbook apart to see what is going on.

I was hoping I could get some feedback on what buttons to push, or what procedure Acer, or someone else with this probelm, recommends.

    Thanks.

Apologies for the thread bump, but I am also experiencing the exact same problems with my D250 as users above have reported

It happened completely randomly - My D250 netbook was working fine one minute, then all of a sudden the screen went blank and I was unable to turn the unit off. I ended up having to disconnect from the mains and pull the battery out. I reinserted the battery, tried to boot it up again, but all I got was a whirring noise from the fan and then power cut out after about 10 seconds

I left the netbook to one side for a bit, thinking it may have needed to cool down (I'd only been using it for about half an hour prior). I came back an hour or so later, tried to boot it up again, and managed to get the power light to remain on permanently. The fan sounded like it was doing something, but no boot up beep, and nothing on the screen. Again, holding the power button wouldn't shut the unit off as you would expect, and I had to remove the battery again

I'm curious to know whether this is a widespread problem with this model, and how other users managed to sort it out - Did you have to send it away to be fixed? Did you receive a reason from Acer regarding the cause of the problem? Was the information on the HDD recoverable afterwards?
