Aspire 7750G switchable graphics are unreliable

Is Acer done updating the drivers for the Aspire 7750G series? I ask because I would like to find a way to switch to the Radeon HD7670M permanently. BIOS only allows switchable or integrated, not dedicated. I know there is a BIOS hack but I would like to steer clear of that and wait for an official patch or driver update. The BIOS and graphics drivers haven't been updated since 2012.

The main problem is some games don't detect the Radeon and I'm forced to play with the Intel GPU. Not so good.

Thanks.

A couple of drivers for Windows 8 were updated in January 2013.

After the production of a system ends, driver updates generally cease unless there is a problem that needs to be addressed.  As there is not a problem to be addressed, there have been no additional updates.

I would expect there to be no additional updates for this system.

The problem is that games or other applications sometimes don't see the dedicated graphics card. Another problem is that we have no way to update our graphics drivers to the most recent AMD driver versions, which could result in performance improvements and other benefits.

The solution would be to be able to switch between using only the integrated, only the dedicated, or both (as switchable) cards in the BIOS. Or to give us instructions on how to switch to AMD drivers without risking the stability of our systems.

    Acer Aspire 7750G-6645

    Intel Core i5-2450M

    2.5Ghz w turbo up to 3.1

AMD Radeon HD 7670M 1GB VRAM

    8GB DDR3 RAM

I had the exact same problem. It took me a really long time to get my computer to recognize my integrated card. I had almost given up, this might not work for you but it worked for me and i will share what i did to fix my problem. You dont have to do a fresh restart of windows but i had messed with alot of my settings when i was on my trail and error troubleshooting stage, so i decided that it would be better to a fresh restart. After my computer was up and running from the windows reboot, the first thing i did was update my video drivers for my native card which is the Intel(R) HD graphics 3000. To do this i clicked on the bottom right upward arrow that is located on the taskbar next to the battery charge icon. Next, i went to options and support tab tab located on the left side clicked on help and support then followed the link to http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu (i used the autodetect option and  installed the drivers.

My next step was to update my acer drivers. I went to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers, to look for my specific laptop drivers i actually used the "search by serial number or SNID" option and it went straight to the drivers i needed. A list of 18 drivers came up for me but i chose to only download two drivers which were the chipset driver (from intel because that is the chipset that corresponds to mine) after doing that i downloaded the Video Graphics Adapter (VGA from AMD because that corresponded to my radeon graphics card.)

As i mentioned i went through alot of trails and errors before figuring out what worked for me. Some of my errors were trying to switch my BIOS from switchable to integrated to see if the card would detect for some reason but it never worked so i defaulted it back to switcheable. Another one of my mistakes was to download the drivers straight from AMD/ATI websites. When i downloaded the Control Catalyst Center (CCC) from the AMD site the CCC tried to download the newest drivers but i kept getting a message saying, "AMD catalyst mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer. the version of your graphics adapter is not supported. Please contact your notebook manufacturer for a graphics driver update" this is what made me uninstall the catalyst from AMD/ATI site and to just use the ones from the ACER site(even though they were not the newest).

Hopefully this helps anyone having this same problem. I had almost given up on the idea that my switcheble graphics card would ever work and i was planning to buy a newer laptop, but due to the fact that i hate spending extra money when i have a perfectly good laptop at my fingertips already i decided to try everything possible to fix my problem.

Yes, but there have been virtually no updates to the drivers!  None.  I purchased my laptop in April 2012, and there was only one update to the graphics drivers.  One day, my Windows 7 score is 5.0 for graphics, the next, it's 3.1
