Hi @Minhwa On the Aspire 3, the small pinhole with a battery symbol is at the far right edge of the laptop.

Insert a straightened paperclip or pin and hold it down for about 15 seconds to perform an embedded‑battery reset. This can help if the system won’t power on after an unexpected shutdown.

After the reset, reconnect the AC adapter and try powering on again.

The pinhole battery reset is as shown below, look for the battery icon like below.

But I suggest that you do a Hard Reset as its allot more affective than just pressing that underside battery reset with a paper clip wire, as that does not reset the laptop and its CMOS properly like a hard reset that resets the EC, Chipset and bios chips properly, as and if the hard reset doesn't work then you have other issues like a main power rail problems, a faulty EC chip that a technician needs to analyse and pinpoint and fix, so start with the hard reset. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

Do this to your Aspire model A315-21G model laptop for a hard reset: Remove one (1) screw from the RAM door and remove the ram, then remove one (1) screw from the HDD door and remove the HDD, then remove seventeen (17) screws from the base cover and remove the base cover from the system.

Disconnect the main battery from its mainboard plug, then take the main battery out, press the power key for 15 seconds to release all power to the laptop, Then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short the RTC/BIOS batteries mainboard case middle which is the + pin with the side - pin (as shown below) to reset CMOS.

Leave the laptop like that for at least 30-60min so that the EC, Chipset and bios chips reset completely and properly and then reconnect everything, if you have 2x ram modules, only connect 1x ram module and alternate the two ram modules and see if its not the ram that is faulty, as a faulty ram module will also stop the laptop from booting and give a black screen, do all the above as the laptop should turn on and boot properly with an image on the screen.

That pinhole literally is the CMOS battery short pin. All you have to do is short that for a couple seconds do to a BIOS reset. You don't have to take out the hard drive, RAM, or anything else. Just unplug it from the wall, put a paperclip in the hole for 3 - 5 seconds, let it sit for about 5 seconds, plug it back in and test.

NO ITS NOT a CMOS reset, as that pin resets the battery only, it does NOT reset the bios or EC chip properly as the laptop needs a proper long reset for a proper reset and for it to boot correctly.

When an Acer Aspire 3 suddenly shuts off and won’t power back on, a few things you can try:

    1. Check the charger & battery – Make sure the power adapter is working. If possible, test with another compatible charger.
    2. Perform a power reset – Disconnect the charger, remove the battery (if it’s a removable model), then hold the power button for ~30 seconds. Reconnect and try powering on.
    3. Use the reset pinhole (“pink hole”) – On most Acer Aspire models it’s a small pinhole on the underside of the laptop, sometimes near the battery or on the side. Insert a paperclip and press gently for a few seconds to reset the hardware.
    4. Look for overheating signs – If it shut down while hot, it might have triggered thermal protection. Give it time to cool before restarting.

If none of these work, it may point to a faulty battery or motherboard issue—in that case, best option is to take it to an Acer service center

"Resets the battery only"…. you mean the CMOS / Bios battery??!? Because, "resetting the laptop battery" …. would do nothing (and happens everytime you unplug a laptop….). Resetting the bios battery, IS A HARD RESET. I've read at least 15 of your posts so far that you're talking absolute garbage and just confusing and frustrating people with udder BS that don't know better. On the other hand…. the guy that posted right after you (jamesThompson) ACTUALLY knows what needs to be done…. AMAZING.

Start by unplugging the charger and removing the battery if it's detachable. Then, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds to discharge any residual power. Ensure that the charger is securely connected to both the laptop and the power source. If the laptop still doesn't respond, try plugging the charger into a different wall outlet or use another compatible charger to rule out any issues with the power supply
