Can anyone tell me if the touchpad needs to be switched off then on each time after booting up to get it to work or should it be live like the mouse please. I have the latest Windows 11 updates and the latest bios and Serial IO drivers but have to manually switch off the touchpad and then on again each time the computer boots.

    Hi Andy_T,

That behaviour’s been seen on both 23H2 and 24H2 — after a cold boot (full shutdown + power‑on), the touchpad sometimes doesn’t initialize until it’s toggled off/on. To rule out software/driver timing issues:

    1. Check exact Windows build (winver). If still on 23H2, update to 24H2 for the latest HID/I²C stack fixes.
    2. Reinstall Chipset + Serial IO from the S32‑1856 support page, even if Device Manager shows them as “latest.”
    3. In BIOS, ensure “Internal Pointing Device”/“Touchpad” is set to Enabled (not Auto).
    4. Test with Fast Startup disabled — some I²C devices initialise more reliably from a true cold boot.

If it still drops out after these steps, it may be a firmware/driver race that needs an Acer patch.
