I've had this computer since 2020. For 5 years everything was fine. Since a Windows update, all my documents have been moved to my users folder. Apparently I'm not the administrator, so I can't open certain applications including PredatorSense. I can't delete or reset the computer because apparently I'm not an administrator. I tried to figure it out with an AI and apparently my computer's product key is a corporate key. But it's a personal purchase computer so I don't understand and I don't know what to do. The store where I bought it can't reset it either. Help me

    Hi Mlh_81easy,

Given your symptoms — loss of admin rights, PredatorSense blocked, and the product key suddenly showing as a corporate key — this points to Windows account/control corruption, likely triggered by a recent update. Here’s the sequence I’d recommend:

1️⃣ In‑place Recovery via Windows Update

This will reinstall your current Windows build over itself, keeping your files, apps, and settings, while refreshing system files and re‑registering components.

    If you’re on Windows 11:

    1. Sign in with an account that still has admin rights.
    2. Go to Settings → System → Recovery.
    3. Under Fix problems using Windows Update, click Reinstall now.
    4. Let it download, reinstall, and restart.

    If you’re on Windows 10:

    • Use an ISO/USB that matches your current edition/build.
    • Mount the ISO or open the USB, run setup.exe, and choose Keep personal files and apps when prompted.

    Before you start:

    • Ensure ~20 GB free on C:
    • Match edition/build/language exactly
    • If BitLocker is on, suspend it first

    2️⃣ Post‑repair BIOS/EC Check

Once Windows is stable and admin rights are restored:

    1. Press Win+R, type msinfo32, and check your BIOS Version/Date.
    2. Visit Acer’s Drivers and Manuals page and enter your model/SNID.
    3. If a newer BIOS/EC is listed, download and update with AC power connected.
    4. After flashing, load BIOS defaults, save, and exit.

    3️⃣ Re‑test

    • Launch PredatorSense — if it still fails, reinstall it from Acer’s support page.
    • Check Settings → System → Activation to confirm your product key/licensing is back to normal.

Why this order? Repairing Windows first tackles the root OS corruption. Updating BIOS/EC afterwards ensures firmware is current without adding variables while the OS is still broken.

Let us know how it goes — if activation still shows as corporate after the repair, we can walk through the re‑activation process next.
