I currently have an external monitor connected to my AL15-51M via the HDMI port and I use the laptop screen as a second screen. I'm finding the laptop screen too small and want to connect a second monitor and us the laptop closed and the 2 external monitors.

I've tried connecting an external monitor to the USBC port with an HDMI cable, via an HDMI to USBC adaptor, and it doesn't work.

    Hi @TreadmillOz , 👋

The USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type‑C port on the Aspire Lite AL15‑51 / AL15‑51M does not support DisplayPort Alternate Mode or Thunderbolt video output. That’s why a USB‑C → HDMI cable/adapter won’t work for direct display output.

If you’d like to run two external monitors with the laptop lid closed, the solution is an active USB graphics adapter using DisplayLink technology. One model used by many Acer forum members with consistently good results — including Extended mode — is:

    🔗 Linknet USB 3.0 / USB‑C to Dual HDMI Adapter (DisplayLink DL‑6950): https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-DisplayLink-Graphics-Outputs-Compatible/dp/B094G5JLNC?th=1

    Why this works well:

    • Drives two 4K@60  Hz extended displays independently
    • Works over USB‑A or USB‑C (adapter included)
    • Cross‑platform: Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android, Ubuntu
    • Completely bypasses DP Alt‑Mode limitations on your Type‑C port

    Setup steps:

    1. Before plugging in the adapter, download and install the latest DisplayLink driver:👉 https://www.displaylink.com/downloads
    2. Reboot your system after installation.
    3. Connect the adapter to a USB 3.0/3.2 port (A or C), then attach your HDMI monitors.
    4. In Windows Display Settings, set each monitor to Extend as desired.
