I just took my Acer Aspire 15 out of the box, and the first thing I tried to do was change the operating system from Linux Gutta to Linux Mint. During the installation, I received an error message saying EFI boot mmx64.efi not found, and the computer shut down. Now it doesn't have any OS at all. I tried installing Windows 11 and 10, but I get a message saying that drivers are missing during installation. I can’t change the Secure Boot or UEFI settings either. I don’t know what to do.

pls help me, im not a tech guy,

    Hi Fersil,

It sounds like your Acer Aspire 15 was interrupted during a Linux installation, and now the system has no operating system and won’t boot properly. The error EFI boot mmx64.efi not found means the installer couldn’t find the correct bootloader file, which usually happens when Secure Boot is enabled or the USB stick wasn’t created correctly.

    🛠️ What You Can Try

    1. Create a new USB installer using Rufus:
      • Use GPT partition scheme and UEFI (non-CSM).
      • Disable Secure Boot if possible (some models lock this).
      • Use Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon for best compatibility.
    2. If Windows install fails with “missing drivers”:
      • Use the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft to create the USB stick.
      • Plug it into a USB 2.0 port, not USB 3.0.
      • If you still see the error, try loading drivers manually or use a different USB stick.
    3. If BIOS settings are locked:
      • You may need to contact Acer Services in your country to reset the firmware.
      • This can happen if the laptop was returned or refurbished and the Secure Boot settings were locked.
