Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue with my Acer Predator Helios NEO 16. Two days ago, the battery ran out while I was away. The screen displayed a “Critically low battery” message, and the laptop shut down. I plugged it in and was able to power it back on. Later, when I unplugged the charger, the laptop instantly shut down and wouldn’t turn on again until it was reconnected to power.

Since then, I’ve observed the following:

  • Windows shows the battery is at 88%, but it does not charge further or charges extremely slowly.
  • If I unplug the power adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as if the battery isn’t present.
  • I tried holding the power button with all cables disconnected, for 1 minute — no change.
  • I opened the device, disconnected and reconnected the battery and CMOS battery, held the power button for 1 minute, waited ~15 minutes, and reassembled — still no improvement.
  • Battery is detected in BIOS, and I have already updated the BIOS to the latest version.
  • I ran powercfg /batteryreport — it shows:
    • Design Capacity: 90,614 mWh
    • Full Charge Capacity: 78,617 mWh
  • I also tried disabling the ACPI Battery Driver in Device Manager - no effect.

Everything points to the system recognizing the battery but not drawing power from it, even though it appears to be partially charged.

Could this be a battery hardware issue (e.g., battery protection circuit stuck) or a power management/controller fault on the motherboard?

Please advise on possible next steps or warranty service options.

Thank you.
