After there is a power interruption or when I have done a full shutdown, the power button on top of the computer will not turn on the unit. I can unplug it for a few seconds and it will start and run normally.

What is causing this?

    Please Post a model number

Does the light turn on ??

Are you holding it for like 5 seconds.

    The switch may be bad.

Easy to prove with an ohmmeter.

The model no. is TC-1760. Yes the power light always comes on and yes I have held the button down for several seconds.
The problem is intermittent. It works as it should some of the time but not always. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern.

    Maybe a bad switch,

Bypass with a test switch or buy a new one.

If it's mounted on a circuit board then check and resolder as needed, the solder connections on it.

Thank you Larry! I will open it up and see what I can come up with.
Since the fault appears to happen randomly I had first assumed a firmware glitch but will test the switch and see what I find.

I reread and see after a power interruption.

Who knows ?? ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE ?

How often do you get interruptions ?

I live rural Missouri. Power interruptions occur during both storms and substation switching. Even the brief ones can reset the clocks and cause computer and router restarts. These occur a couple of times a week on the average but not every one will result in me having to unplug the computer to restart.
To confirm, when the computer is on, regardless of how I restart it, the power light is always illuminated.

Maybe buy one of the battery packs un-interruptable ?

Maybe something like these would be worth it. I TRY to unplug my computers if a bad storm is approaching but not always possible.

A TC-1760 PC failing to turn on after a full shutdown when using the power button can be due to a few common issues, including a faulty power button, problems with the power supply, or issues with the motherboard. Troubleshooting steps include checking the power supply, inspecting the power button, and potentially testing with an onboard power button (if available) or using a screwdriver to jump the power switch headers.

    Troubleshooting Steps:-
    1. Check Power Supply:
Ensure the power supply is functioning correctly. If the PC has a PSU switch, make sure it's turned on.
    2. Visual Inspection:
Examine the power button for any physical damage or sticking issues.
    3. Check Cable Connections:
Verify all power cables are securely connected to the motherboard and other components.
    4. Onboard Power Button (if available):
If your motherboard has an onboard power button, try using it to see if the system turns on.
    5. Jump the Power Switch Headers:
If there's no onboard power button, you can try jump-starting the system by carefully touching a screwdriver to the power switch headers on the motherboard.
