i have an error stop code: HYPERVISOR_ERROR
What failed: symcryptk.dll

was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this. currently my Acer Aspire 315-24pt automatically restarts on its own after 2 min of use. i cant do anything once logged into windows and also restarts while idling on the login screen. But i can access BIOS for infinite amount of time without a restart. I've already did a clean windows 11 install on a different pc using the same m.2 and still keep having the same issue. someone mentioned on a forum post it could be the hypervisor virtualization and to turn it off, already done that and nothing improved. i stil get that same stop code. anyone have any useful ideas?

Hey @DarkLordGrim , thanks for sharing the details.

Since you're getting a HYPERVISOR_ERROR with symcryptk.dll, and your system crashes even while idle on the login screen, you've likely got deeper kernel-level corruption. The fact that BIOS runs fine rules out hardware as the primary culprit.

Here’s a recommended step-by-step to recover without nuking everything:

    🧩 Suggested Recovery Path

    1. Try a System Image Restore If you have a clean image backup, restoring it will return your system to a known-good configuration. Make sure it's a recent and uncorrupted one.
    2. Run Windows Repair Commands (as Admin and online)
      • Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealthWait up to 30 minutes—this repairs the Windows image itself.
      • SFC /scannowRepeat the SFC command until you see:
    3. If All Else Fails — In-place RecoveryFrom the Recovery screen, select Reinstall Now. It’ll repair system files without deleting your data or apps. This avoids the full clean install and keeps your drivers/settings intact.

Let us know how it goes. If the issue persists even after all that, it may be time to inspect firmware-level issues (TPM, M.2 controller, etc.).

This error is to do with the installed Virtual Machines that is on your Aspire A315-24P laptop, you might need to uninstall the VM, as there are allot of variables to this error so have a look at this guide HERE of how to fix the HYPERVISOR_ERROR and follow the different fixes. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

    Hi @DarkLordGrim ,

Just to clarify—this isn’t related to Virtual Machines or Hyper-V usage directly. The mention of HYPERVISOR_ERROR and symcryptk.dll points to a kernel-level fault, not user-level VM configurations.

    🧠 What’s really going on:

    • symcryptk.dll is part of Microsoft’s core cryptographic library used by the Windows kernel, not Hyper-V services.
    • The BSOD is triggered by corruption or instability in the security stack or low-level drivers, often due to mismatched drivers, bad updates, or a flawed OS image.

Turning Hyper-V off won’t fix it—it’s like removing your umbrella during a thunderstorm because lightning was mentioned 😅

🔧 You’re already on the right track with:

    • System Image Restore
    • DISM + SFC command sequence
    • In-place Recovery as a fallback

Let me know how it goes—we’ll stay ready in case firmware or TPM settings are next on the troubleshooting list.

I've already done a clean windows 11 install, although i had to use a working pc to do that, get windows 11 on that drive and move it back to the original laptop(aspire 3). I'm currently on the Automatic Repair blue screen with the message "Your PC did not start correctly" with the options "Restart" and Advance Options which takes me to the "continue" "use a device" "troubleshooting" ect ect(i have been on this screen with no restart for the past couple hrs while trying to clean the usb drive i am ab out to use), I am about to attempt a system image restore by trying to create one on a usb drive to see if i can restore that way.

I’ve attempted the restore image recovery and got the following after a few min of idling

The second image stop code: BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO
