So I got nitro 5 with realtek audio drivers and when I'm switching between tabs or apps, I sometimes get crackling noise from my headset. I updated drives and I switched off all audio enhancements that I could have find but I still get cracklings. The crackling sound was reduced when I switched the driver to generic windows one, but then my windows doesn't recognize my headset as headset but just as headphones and uses built in microphone . So any idea how can I fix either realtek driver or to get my laptop to recognize my headset as headset?

    👋 Hey @SonixKa ,

The crackling you're hearing when switching apps or tabs is likely caused by how the Realtek audio driver interacts with GPU-triggered audio routing via the Nvidia driver — especially common on Nitro 5 models with tight integration between graphics and sound subsystems.

✅ You've already done the right things by disabling enhancements and trying the generic driver. That reduced the crackling, but as you saw, it downgraded headset detection and microphone routing.

💡 Here are a few extra steps to try:

    • In Device Manager, temporarily disable “Nvidia High Definition Audio” and reboot — this may reduce audio signal confusion caused by GPU handoffs.
    • Stick with the Realtek driver, but make sure enhancements are turned off both in the Windows Sound settings and the Realtek Audio Console, if available.
    • Check for a BIOS update on Acer’s support page — sometimes audio latency and signal routing bugs are silently addressed through firmware fixes.

🛠️ Still having trouble? Post your current Realtek driver version, and we can help check for newer or cleaner builds that play better with Nitro 5 configurations.

Start by performing a clean reinstall of the Realtek audio driver. Open Device Manager, expand the “Sound, video and game controllers” section, right-click on Realtek Audio, and select “Uninstall device.” After restarting your laptop, download and install the latest Realtek driver from Acer’s official support page for your exact Nitro 5 model—this ensures a fresh, conflict-free setup.

I dii all of that and still doesnt work. I also have AMD drivers as well so maybe that has conflict as well? And my realtek driver version is 6.0.9514.1

I tried clean installation, and didnt help. I also installed realtek high definition audio driver which helped but like with generic windows driver, it didnt recognized my headset as headset
