Hey, so i currently have an Orion 5000 PO5-615s Core i7, RTX 3070 PC, XMP shows in the bios yet when i enable it it just sends my pc into a power loop until bios recovery kicks in, im stuck at 2133mhz with 3200mhz RAM, is there anything i can do? I have read everywhere that the Z490 motherboards can support it.

    👋 Hey @bunnydevx ,

Thanks for the heads-up about your Orion 5000 PO5-615s. You're right — even though XMP shows up in the BIOS, these Acer-custom Z490 boards often struggle to apply most profiles correctly. That power loop you're hitting after enabling XMP is sadly common.

🔍 What's going on? The BIOS likely fails to train the RAM at 3200 MHz using aggressive XMP settings. It then rolls back via recovery, leaving you stuck at 2133 MHz.

    What you can try instead:

Here are a few DDR4 modules that tend to play nicer with OEM boards like yours:

    Brand / Series

    Specs

    Why it helps

    Crucial Ballistix

    DDR4-3200 CL16

    Uses Micron E-Die, stable fallback

    Corsair Vengeance LPX

    DDR4-3200 CL16 or CL18

Non-RGB, tighter timings, good JEDEC fallback

    Kingston Fury Beast

    DDR4-3200 CL16

High success with locked OEM boards

    🧠 Tips:

    • Avoid RGB modules — they sometimes need extra firmware support.
    • Stick to single-rank or low-voltage kits (1.35V).
    • If XMP keeps failing, try setting speed and timings manually if your BIOS allows it — something like 3200 MHz, CL16, 1.35V.

📌 Sadly, unless Acer pushes a more flexible BIOS update, full XMP support remains hit-or-miss.

Let us know what RAM you're using now, and we can help check its SPD table or recommend tweaks!

Hey @bunnydevx , thanks for confirming the kit—Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL (CMH32GX4M2D3600C18) is a solid performer on enthusiast boards, but it’s a bit of a wildcard on OEM setups like the Orion 5000.

💡 Why RGB can be problematic here: RGB modules often come with aggressive XMP profiles and extra firmware dependencies. Acer’s custom Z490 BIOS doesn’t always train those profiles properly, which is why you’re seeing power loops and fallback to 2133 MHz.

🔧 What you can try: If you’re set on keeping the RGB kit, try manual tuning:

    • Speed: 3200 MHz
    • Timings: CL18
    • Voltage: 1.35V

This avoids XMP and gives the BIOS a better chance to stabilize.

Reminder: Non-RGB kits like Vengeance LPX or Kingston Fury Beast tend to work more reliably on locked OEM boards. They use simpler SPD tables and don’t rely on extra firmware hooks.

Only populate your PO5-615s desktop with the Acer suggested max speed spec of the DDR4-32000MT/s CL22 type RAM modules listed below, DO NOT use Corsair DDR4-3200MT/s XMP type overclocked RAM as it has a CL16 which is not compatible with the PO5-615s desktop, as the PO5-615s need to run on normal DDR4-3200MT/s CL22 type none XMP overclocked RAM for best performance and to get the Task Manager speed of 2933MT/s which is the cpu max ram speed as designed by Intel.

Its a very simple equation that is why your PO5-615s desktop is showing the Speed: 2133MT/s in Task Manager, as you have populated the RAM DIMMS with the wrong RAM. The max capacity that Acer quotes for the PO5-615s desktop is 64GB @ 4x 16GB DDr4-3200MT/s CL22 RAM modules, see below.

But the RAM speed can be increased to what Intel the LGA1200 socket 10th Gen cpu's max design RAM is, (like and with their i9-10850K cpu) which is designed to work at a max 128GB with the Intel's max quoted DDR4-2933MT/s type RAM speed but the DDR4-3200MT/s CL22 are the ideal ram that you should populate your desktop as fitting XMP ram WILL NOT GIVE this desktop faster RAM speeds than 2933 MT/s as that is the cpu's Intel max designed limit! Good luck and hope this explains it to you.

These are all the RAM modules that Acer recommends for the Predator Orion 5000 model PO5-615s that are listed below:
